    CONVERSATIONS AT THE FADO MUSEUM

    The Fado Museum promotes a series of intimate recordings with artists from different generations and styles throughout 2018. Fado singer Marco Rodrigues was there few days ago. Here in a photograph with the musician Paulo de Carvalho, who also embraced the Fado.

    SERIOUS EXHIBITION TO LAUGH SERIOUSLY: RAFAEL BORDALO PINHEIRO

    Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, master of Portuguese faience, put popular culture in the pieces of crockery he designed. An eminent designer and renowned ceramist, who earned him the title of Artistic Director in the newly founded Fábrica de Faianças das Caldas in 1884. He expressed through comic strip and in what we call today graphic design. […]

    Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, master of Portuguese faience, put popular culture in the pieces of crockery he designed.

    An eminent designer and renowned ceramist, who earned him the title of Artistic Director in the newly founded Fábrica de Faianças das Caldas in 1884.

    He expressed through comic strip and in what we call today graphic design.

    Man of values, his work merges with his own life. He was a defender of the Republic in full Monarchy and always supportive in the fight against social injustices.

    Humor and caricature were his weapons to spread his ideals and expose injustices and political bargaining.

    The Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro Museum, in Campo Pequeno, descended to Baixa Lisboeta.

    Performed with great technical skill, part of the knowledge owed to his Father, the illustrious guitarist Francisco Carvalhinho, accompanied many names of Fado singers. Only a few of them, Fernanda Maria, Fernando Farinha, Cláudia Leal, Maria da Nazaré.

    The cast of Café Luso expresses deep gratitude and sorrow.
