    THE RETURN OF THE FOUNDERS IN THE 80 YEARS OF ADEGA MACHADO

    21th of December 2017 was night of Feast at Adega Machado.

    Special for this house of fados of Bairro Alto to celebrate 80 Years where have returned Family Machado, since it reopened in 2012 with the Management Fado & Food Group.

    The challenge of opening this establishment was launched by renowned guitarist Fernando Freitas at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, when in 1937 he went to perform with Armando Machado and fado singer Maria Albertina for our Queen D. Amélia, exiled in the French capital.

    For the greater part of its existence, it was in the hands of this family, especially the founders, the singer Maria de Lourdes and her husband, the guitarist and composer Armando Machado.

    They were joined by five children, three of whom had special responsibilities in recent years: Maria Rita, Filipe and António Tomaz.

    Joined renowned artists, most of whom belonged to Adega Machado, as Florinda Maria, Marina Rosa, Fernanda Pinto, Maria de Portugal and Fernando de Sousa, but also close figures and Fado, among them guitar legends Edgar Nogueira and António Chainho.

    It was for that reason a festive night and of strong emotions in the long life of Adega Machado.
