Monstra – Animation Film Festival, takes place from 16 to 26 this month in various venues in Lisbon. It will be possible to see how some of these films were made.

There will be many parallel activities – exhibitions, workshops, school sessions, etc. – with the aim of increasing the public.

The animated movie audience has won over the adults. Parents today ask if they can bring their children to certain movies.

“Fado Violado”, a project that crosses fado with flamenco, was born in 2008 by the hands of Ana Pinhal and Francisco Almeida “. It is from this junction between the past and the present, between the roots and the discovery, that the Fado Violado were born. That Fado and Flamenco have common roots seems to be a consensus among musicologists, and Fado Violado are the evidence of this.

“ARTIFACT TO HUMAN COMMUNICATION”

In his debut at Underdogs Gallery, Felipe Pantone will be presenting a reflection on the nature of the work of art and communication in this age of excessive information.

According to the artist:

“Good works of art have a voice, although it requires a prepared spectator willing to seek, order and assimilate the information they’re given (…)”

The emergence of the internet has completely altered the way we educate ourselves. In today’s society, we do not need a leader who inserts knowledge through a probe, but educators who teach us how to seek out information and stimulate our creative thinking.

Mostafa Anwar is 50 years old and came from Bangladesh to Lisbon to do a master’s degree at New University. Scientist and musician, he fell in love with fado and added instruments such as tanpura, sitar and Indian “harmónio”.

It is the eighth edition of this film festival, which brings together the best of cinematographic production in Portuguese-speaking countries, with films from Angola, Brazil, Guinea-Bissau, Portugal and East Timor, in a program organized in exhibitions.

This year the highlight is the films produced by women with the Mostra Mulheres in the Ibero-American Cinema, Past and Present, and the director Margarida Gil is honored with a retrospective of her work.
