Big news, the Clube de Fado in Alfama has gained another breath.

The Fado & Food Group comprises historic establishments dedicated to the universe of Lisbon’s urban song.

The Clube de Fado thus joins now the other Fado Houses of the Group: Bairro Alto, Café Luso (1927) and Adega Machado (1937); in the Alcântara District, Timpanas (1961). The cultural roots of this oral tradition, Fado, have always been associated with national gastronomy. The Fado & Food Group’s mission is to preserve and innovate on the historical legacy of fado houses.

The Fado & Food Group is therefore guardian of the future of the Clube de Fado.

The 12th edition of the Flamenco Festival in Lisbon is held. No wonder, so many are caught up in flamenco, music and dance.

Each edition intensifies the desire for the art of flamenco.

In terms of sounds, not new, it meets Fado.

In its history, the house of fado Café Luso recalls the innumerable performances of Edgar Nogueira. For years the press gave him the epithet “Paganini da Guitarra Portuguesa”. Many believe he deserves it.

On July 27 will perform with Nélson Aleixo (viola de fado at Adega Machado), Max Ciuro (viola bass) and fado singers Isabel Noronha (Adega Machado) and José da Câmara.

The fado released moorings in April 2019 and continues to sail every Friday and Saturday afternoon at 19.00.

FADO ON THE RIVER is innovative since it is a twinned offer, two companies (Lisboat – operator of circuits in the river Tagus – and Fado & Food Group – manages the legacy of historic fado houses in Lisbon) that took the same inspiration , Lisbon, to get to know her in a different way.

An hour to sail with all the emotions transmitted through Fado live, with the muse Lisbon in the background, sight of an angle that surprises national and foreign visitors.

It maintains the same originality and freshness of four years ago for being original and inimitable. The daily event Fado Inside the Box was imposed when fulfilling what it was proposed.

The visitors have in full day the experience lived in the nocturnal atmosphere of a house of fado, accommodated in tables near the artists. During the performance they will make a gastronomic tasting.

They walk through the museum galleries of one of the historic fado houses in Bairro Alto and receive an introduction to Fado, about its essence, importance and variety of fado types, from traditional to contemporary.

It is therefore a month of celebration and it is probable that some of our Clients will be surprised.
